Vessel Design

IMC’s naval architecture and related engineering capabilities are applied both to new ship design and vessel conversions and modifications, with a focus on custom designs to meet the specific needs of customers.

IMC works collaboratively with its client to develop a full understanding of project requirements and apply the combined skills and experience of both parties to develop an optimised, custom-designed solution. This is true whether the project involves a complete package of shipyard production drawings for a new building or a comparatively minor vessel modification.

The company has the skilled personnel, tools and experience to work successfully across the full range of the design cycle, from requirements analysis through concept development and assessment to detailed structural and systems engineering and shipyard production drawings. To further support clients achieving their desired outcomes, IMC is able to provide full project management services to guide the full project life cycle from concept to delivery.

Demonstrating its broad capability, IMC has experience in the design of vessels:

  • built in steel and aluminium
  • ranging from 6 metres to over 70 metres in length
  • with conventional shaft, diesel electric, azimuthing drive and water jet propulsion
  • monohull and catamaran hull forms, both displacement and semi-planing
